In this topic, you will learn how to create a CFDA in G5.
Steps:
Click the CFDA function to enter a new CFDA.
Step 1Enter the CFDA name into the Key Terms field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "ACME Grant Program".
Step 2Note: Pseudo CFDAs are typically for the purpose of sole source grants or for non-ED CFDA programs, such as interagency programs. Pseudo CFDAs are not submitted to OMB for inclusion in the CFDA catalog. Pseudo CFDAs are typically entered into GAPS by a user in Budget Service.
Step 3Click the Search button to search the system to see if the CFDA already exists.
Step 4The system displays a message indicating that the CFDA does not currently exist.
Click the Create CFDA button to create the new CFDA.
Step 5Enter the CFDA information into the CFDA Title field.
For this example, the CFDA title is "ACME Grant Program".
Step 6Enter the desired information into the CFDA Purpose field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "to provide science equipment".
Step 7Click in the CFDA Description Document field.
Step 8Click the Browse... button to search your network's directory for the correct document.
Note: The CFDA Description Document contains the program information that will be reviewed by the A-89 representative and, if approved, eventually submitted to OMB for publication in the CFDA Catalog. Among other things, the CFDA Description Document defines the objectives of the program, eligibility requirements, application and award process, selection criteria, and contacts.
Step 9For this example, select the TEST FILE FOR CREATE CFDAs list item.
Step 10Click the Open button to pull the file into the CFDA screen.
Step 11Click the Upload button to attach the file to the CFDA form.
Step 12The system displays a message indicating that the file was successfully uploaded.
Click the Download Instruction Document link to search for the CFDA instruction document.
Step 13Click the Open button.
The Microsoft file download screen displays asking what your next step should be.
Click the Open button to display the instruction document.
Step 14After reviewing the instruction document, click the Close button to close it.
Step 15Click the Download Document Template link to search for the CFDA template.
Step 16The Microsoft file download screen displays asking what your next step should be.
Click the Open button to display the CFDA template.
Step 17After reviewing the CFDA template, click the Close button to close it.
Step 18Note: At this point, you can click the Save as Draft if you are not ready to submit the CFDA request.
Step 19Click the Continue > button to move to the Summary screen.
Step 20After reviewing the CFDA details, click the Submit for Approval button to confirm the CFDA request.
Step 21Note: Once the CFDA is submitted for approval, the system generates a CFDA Tracking Number.
The CFDA Number will be generated when the CFDA is approved in the G5 system.
Step 22Also Note: Once the CFDA is submitted, the G5 system generates an email and sends it to the A89 Representative.
A notification is also sent to the user who submitted the request and the CFDA Program Office Contact who is listed on the form.
Step 23Note: The system displays a message indicating that the CFDA was created successfully.
If you want to create additional CFDAs, you can click the Done button to return to the search screen and repeat the process.
Step 24Click the Go To Home button to return to the My Home Page screen..
Step 25Congratulations!
You have successfully created a CFDA.
