In this topic, you will learn how to create a new application package.
Steps:
Click the Package Maintenance menu item to begin the process of creating a new application package.
Step 1Click the Create button to create a new application package.
Step 2Enter the correct information into the Fiscal Year field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "2010".
Step 3Enter the correct information into the CFDA/Subprogram field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "84.066W".
Step 4Enter the correct information into the Schedule No. field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "4".
Step 5Enter the title for the package into the Package Title field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Training".
Step 6Click the Show Calendar button for the Closing Date field.
Step 7For this example, the calendar has been set to December 2010.
Step 8Click the 30 calendar cell to set the closing date as December 30, 2010.
Step 9Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down to the Contact Information.
Step 10Enter the information into the First Name field of the Contact Information.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Ed".
Step 11Enter the information into the Last Name field of the Contact Information.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Coolidge".
Step 12Enter the information into the Phone field of the Contact Information.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "202-555-5555".
Step 13Enter the information into the E-MAIL field of the Contact Information.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "ed.coolidge@ed.gov".
Step 14Click the Browse… button in the Dear Colleague Letter section to display the files available in your file directory.
Step 15Select the Colleague Letter list item.
Step 16Click the Open button to display the document you selected in the Document field.
Step 17Click the Upload button to upload the Dear Colleague Letter to the package.
Step 18Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 19Click the Continue > button to move to the Forms tab.
Step 20Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and view the available forms.
Step 21You may add the forms which are needed to the package by selecting the respective check boxes.
Step 22Click the Select button to mark the Application for Federal Assistance (SF-424) form.
Step 23Note: Each form which will be included in the package has been checked.
Step 24Click the Add button to add the forms you selected to the package.
Step 25Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 26The system displays the forms which were added in the Selected Forms section.
Click the Required to Complete option for the first form to indicate that it is required for the applicants to complete.
Step 27Check each of the forms which is required. For this example, all the forms have been checked.
Step 28This is an example of the forms which will be selected for a Fellowship.
Step 29Click the Continue > button to move to the Narratives tab.
Step 30Enter the information into the Heading field of the Project Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Training Project Narrative".
Step 31Enter the information into the Max # of Attachments field of the Project Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "5".
Step 32Enter the information into the Max Size field of the Project Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "8".
Step 33Enter the information into the Page Limit field of the Project Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "20".
Step 34Click the Add button to add the project narrative to the package.
Step 35Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 36The narrative you added is displayed at the bottom of the Project Narratives section.
Enter the information into the Heading field of the Budget Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Training Budget Narrative".
Step 37Enter the information into the Max # of Attachments field of the Budget Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "3".
Step 38Enter the information into the Max Size field of the Budget Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "8".
Step 39Enter the information into the Page Limit field of the Budget Narratives section.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "5".
Step 40Click the Add button to add the Budget Narrative to the package.
Step 41Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 42The narrative you added is displayed at the bottom of the Budget Narratives section.
Click the Continue > button to move to the Form Order tab.
Step 43Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 44You may enter the order in which the forms will be displayed in the package.
Step 45Enter the information into the Display Order field for the SF-424.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "1".
Step 46Enter the order in which the rest of the forms will be displayed in the package. For this example, the order has been completed.
Step 47Click the Continue > button to move to the Instructions tab.
Step 48Enter the title of the instructions document into the Document Title field.
For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "Instructions".
Step 49Click the Browse… button for the Document field to display your directory of files.
Step 50Select the Instructions list item.
Step 51Click the Open button to display the file you selected in the Document field.
Step 52Click the Upload button to upload the document to the package.
Step 53The system displays a message indicating that the file was successfully uploaded.
Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 54Click the Continue > button to move to the Summary tab.
Step 55Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down and review the Contact and Forms information.
Step 56Click the Vertical scrollbar again to scroll down to the narratives.
Step 57Click the Submit button to submit and save your work.
Step 58The system displays a message indicating that the package has been successfully created.
Click the Vertical scrollbar to scroll down.
Step 59Note: If you would like to create additional packages, you may click Done and return to the search screen to repeat the process.
Step 60Click the Go To Home button to return to the My Home Page screen.
Step 61Congratulations!
You have successfully created a new application package.
