Commit Funds


Concept

In this topic, you will learn how to commit funds.


Steps:

  1. Click the Commit/Decommit Funds menu item to begin the process of committing funds.

  2. Enter the correct information into the Fiscal Year field.

     

    For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "2022".

  3. Enter the correct information into the CFDA/Subprogram field.

     

    For this example, enter a valid value e.g. "84.004A".

  4. Click in the Action type field to display the list of action types.

  5. Select the New Competition list item for this example.

  6. Click the Search button to search for competitions which meet the search criteria.

  7. Click the Select button to mark CFDA/Subprogram 84.004A and Schedule 1.

  8. Click the Commit Funds button to move to the Commit Funds tab.

  9. The system displays the applications for the competition you selected.  The information for each application includes the start and end dates for the budget period, the requested amount, the amount to commit and the funding status.

  10. Note: The Grant Schedule Estimates is a link which you can click to take you to the associated schedule.

  11. You may review and, if necessary, update the grant schedule estimates.  After you are finished, the system will return you to the Commit Funds screen.

  12. Click in the Apply to All field to display the action choices which can be done to all the applications.

  13. If you want to mark all the applications with the same action, you can select the action and click the Apply to All button.

     

    For this example, select Commit.

  14. Click the Apply to All button to apply the selected action to all of the applications listed.

  16. You can also click in the Actions field to select the action for each award individually.

  17. After each application has been marked, click the Continue > button to move to the Summary tab.

  18. Review the information for each application then click the Submit button to submit the commitments to the system.

  19. The system displays a message indicating that the records were sent to FMSS successfully and are pending commitment or rejection.  The associated FMSS ID is also shown.

     

    The Funding Status updates to Pending Commitment until the transactions complete in FMSS.

  20. The transaction log will display four steps and will spin until these steps have been completed.

  21. Check mark will appear next to each step when the step has been completed.  When all four steps have been completed, the Funding Status will change and a link to the Transaction Log will appear.

  22. Note:  If you want to make commitments for additional competitions, click the Done button and return to the search screen to repeat the process.

  23. Click the Go to Home button to return to the My Home Page screen.
